When was the last time you serviced your inflatable life jacket?
Well I am ashamed to say that the last time I did mine was NEVER!!
However after watching this cool YouTube video I realised it wasn’t actually that hard and I should just get my act together and do it.
I’ve got a couple of inflatables. One I have had since 1999 – according to the last time it was serviced note on the inside.
The other one I bought a couple of years ago.
You should really check them annually at least, to make sure that there are no holes in the inflatable bit, and that the gas canister is in good shape.

So we have just followed the instructions and have manually blown ours up to leave overnight to make sure that they are all still inflated in the morning. I can report that all looks good so far.
It only took me a few minutes to do – and that included watching the video on how to do it. So consider this your reminder to go and blow up your life jackets!

We religiously check ours each year and tick the boxes away on the checklist provided. Easy peasy!

Great reminder. We visually inspect the canister every year, but I have to admit that we don’t blow them up. I accidentally blew one up a few years ago and it was almost impossible to get all the air out of it again !

This is a great video. I used it last year and was shocked to find that the cannister attachment in one of our life jackets was smashed and therefore useless – we had been blissfully unaware. So I do a regular visual check now. Thanks for the reminder.

Scary!! Probably easily done too when life jackets seem to end up on the floor or stuffed in cupboards etc. eek!
