Kings Canyon

Andrew’s nose was pressed up against the window as we flew over thousands of miles of red desert towards the heart of Australia. You can clearly see where ancient rivers once flowed over this now dry land. The vast flatness of the land is suddenly punctuated with an enormous red rock – Uluru.

Sailing Songs

There seem to be lots of songs about sailing and or the sea. I think this is clearly just another reason why sailing is so fantastic. I mean, you don’t hear people singing songs about jet-skiing now do you? Here are some of my favourite sailing songs. You can click on the Apple music icon…

Awesome Okarito

Knowing how much I love travelling and having adventures, my fabulous friends all chipped in and bought me a weekend at a flash resort on the West Coast of the South Island for my 40th birthday party. Last weekend we finally found a free weekend to squeeze in a trip and stay at this amazing…

It’s 4.00am and I am covered in diesel. Soaked in stinky slippery diesel. All over my hands, boots, wet weather gear. Its all over the boat too. Hopefully I actually got some of it in the tank? Andrew does not look impressed. I can’t blame him. I had just woken him up to come and…

Passage Notes – Lyttelton to Picton

Well another delivery trip up the coast has been successfully completed. Wildwood usually lives in Lyttelton, where we sail her all year round. However we like to have our holidays on board in the Marlborough Sounds. This is about 183 nautical miles away. A 30 ish hour passage up the East Coast of the South…

Budget your Boating
